Join the Dream Team

Are you between 18 to 30 years old and are you a resident of one of the ESC programme countries? Then consider joining the Dream Team 🎉

The Dream Team is an international group of young volunteers put together by GEN Europe every year – via the European Solidarity Corps programme – who come to support the Gathering whilst having a fantastic experience and who get to enjoy the Gathering at no cost.

This year this group will comprise 15 volunteers who will spend 4 weeks together at Manas Garden, Hungary.

Priority will be given to young people from Germany (due to this opportunity being funded by the German National Agency) as well as to young people from Eastern Europe.

This is an exciting chance to immerse yourself in the world of ecovillages, by living and working in community and co-creating Europe’s biggest ecovillage event with a diverse international team. A mix of practical work and team-building create a great sense of achievement and bonds for life between the volunteers, many of whom go on to form lasting connections with the ecovillage movement!

Requirements

  • 18-30 years old
  • Legal residency in one of the ESC programme countries
  • Be available from July 27 (arrival day) to August 25 (departure day) 2025

Participant Profile

You are enthusiastic, hands-on, creative, proactive and happy working on a diverse range of tasks – from preparing documents to building a compost toilet! You enjoy working in a team, you are up for facing challenges with a solution-oriented mind, you’re willing to do your best to communicate efficiently and compassionately and to resolve tensions or conflicts, and you are thrilled to embark on an intense but rewarding journey that will teach you a lot about yourself and the ecovillage movement!

What?

You will be involved in the Gathering preparation, implementation and wrap-up.

During the preparation phase, you’ll get to know GEN Europe, the Gathering, your fellow volunteers and the venue better, you’ll prepare materials and infrastructures and take a deep dive into the programme elements.

During the Gathering itself you will mostly support the different programme elements/areas with their logistical needs: the children’s space, the collective morning sessions, the EXPO, the workshops, etc. You’ll be given the opportunity to choose according to your preferences.

After the Gathering, you’ll wrap up the spaces and materials and reflect on your experience and what you have learned.

There will be a Dream Team coordinator who will overview the distribution of tasks as well as the wellbeing of the team, and different coordinators for the different areas of work, so you’ll get to collaborate with many people from GEN Europe and from our Hungarian host, a very enriching human experience and a great way to make contacts!

When & Where?

From July 26 to August 24 so 4 weeks in total + 2 travel days (or 4 travel days if you’re coming from further away by bus/train/boat).

At the Gathering venue, Manas Garden.

Conditions

  • The living conditions will be simple with a focus on a low ecological footprint. Expect sleeping in a tent (bring your own camping gear) and common facilities, natural rural environment and diverse social activities together with the group.
  • You will be provided with 3 vegetarian meals a day for the whole duration of your stay, as well as with a little bit of pocket money. Your travel tickets/costs will be refunded to you.
  • You will work between 30 to 38 hours per week and you will have 2 days off per week + 2 days of holidays. However it’s difficult to give you days off during the Gathering week (as there is so much to do) so you’ll get a total of 10 days off during the 4 weeks but you will have to work 8 days in a row during the Gathering.

What is the European Solidarity Corps?

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe. It provides an opportunity to join meaningful work and experiential learning while your food, accommodation, traveling, pocket money, insurance and mentorship are fully covered.
